Director of GAAP Reporting

This is a search for a Director of GAAP Reporting with an acquisitive, established/entrepreneurial, Life & Annuity carrier that is planning to go public. Their mission is to provide their customers and their families life insurance, asset accumulation and supplemental health products to help them achieve their goals.

Description

Reporting to the Head of External Reporting, the Director of GAAP Reporting will be a critical member of the Finance team and a key member in growing and strengthening GAAP financial reporting, including journalization of domestic insurance activities, Oracle data improvements, and financial reporting packages. From time to time, this individual might also be involved with Statutory reporting, asset management reporting and MAR/SOX. Compensation range is generally in the $150,000 - $170,0000 range plus bonus. A fuller description is available, some highlights of the scope of the role below:

  • Deliver timely and accurate financial statements and other reports to help management track the financial results of the business and various subsidiaries.
  • Responsible for reviewing journal entry preparation, account analysis and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Implement and monitor internal controls practice for financial reporting group
  • Responsible for leading annual audits: Work directly with external auditors to answer questions, provide documentation and financial analysis in order to complete year end audits.
  • Assess and identify new or unusual transactions, projects, or requests from other departments and proactively determine the best way to address them
  • CPA required.
  • Previous experience in 10Q/10k reporting preferred with experience in insurance industry a plus.
  • 10+ years relevant work experience - mix of public and private.
