The Director of Banquets at our luxury hotel/restaurant is responsible for overseeing all aspects of banquet and event operations, ensuring flawless execution and exceptional guest experiences. This individual will lead a team of banquet professionals, plan and coordinate events, and collaborate with other departments to deliver memorable dining experiences that exceed client expectations. The Director of Banquets will also be responsible for managing budgets, maintaining inventory, and upholding high standards of service and hospitality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the banquet team, including banquet managers, event coordinators, and banquet staff, ensuring they are properly trained, motivated, and equipped to deliver exceptional service.
  • Plan and coordinate all banquet and event operations, including meetings, conferences, weddings, and social events, in accordance with client expectations and hotel/restaurant standards.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to develop creative and innovative banquet menus that reflect the hotel/restaurant's brand and meet client preferences and dietary requirements.
  • Work closely with the sales and marketing teams to identify business opportunities, attract new clients, and drive revenue growth through banquet and event sales.
  • Manage banquet budgets and expenses, including forecasting, cost control, and profitability analysis, to maximize revenue and minimize costs while maintaining quality and guest satisfaction.
  • Maintain relationships with clients, vendors, and suppliers, negotiating contracts and pricing to ensure quality products and services are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Oversee setup and execution of banquet events, ensuring they are properly staffed, equipped, and decorated according to client specifications and hotel/restaurant standards.
  • Monitor industry trends and client feedback, and implement strategies to continuously improve banquet operations and enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Uphold high standards of cleanliness, organization, and safety in banquet areas, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Foster a positive and professional work environment, promoting teamwork, communication, and employee development.

Required Experience

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and other hotel/event management systems.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as Director of Banquets or Catering for fine dining/high volume environment
  • Strengths must include multi-tasking, problem resolution, and customer relations.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a team player with a strong work ethic.
  • Must be committed to upholding high standards of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
