The Opportunity:

The Director, OEM Business Development is responsible for leading TrueCar’s business development efforts across OEMs and other non-dealer national accounts. This role will prioritize, prospect, manage, and retain OEM relationships to ensure consistent performance and profitability aligned to strategic OEM goals. This role will report to the VP, Head of Partnerships and be responsible for setting OEM strategic growth initiatives while developing and cultivating the business development pipeline across TrueCar’s key OEM products.

How you’ll contribute to TrueCar’s success:

  • Identify and prioritize opportunities for TrueCar to support OEMs in marketing and selling their products across the TrueCar platform.
  • Prospect and engage prospective OEM partners to educate and onboard our suite of advertising products.
  • Expand TrueCar’s Private Targeted Offers and Incentives program by garnering inclusion in new OEM programs.
  • Act as the leadership point of contact between the OEM and TrueCar, understand the OEM business needs, and problem-solve. This position requires strong coordination with cross-functional teams, including Product, Marketing, and Business Operations.
  • Develop and leverage relationships across the industry to build a pipeline that attains and surpasses established quarterly targets.
  • Lead a focused team of OEM Business Development professionals to ensure they have a deep understanding of TrueCar’s OEM strategy, are highly motivated to achieve TrueCar’s goals, and have the tools to be successful.
  • Provide ongoing updates to TrueCar’s cross-functional senior leadership regarding OEM business development strategy, approach, pipeline, and progress against OEM financial plan.
  • Work collaboratively across teams to support the needs of the assigned OEM book of business by troubleshooting, reporting, documenting, and taking the initiative in problem-solving issues as they arise.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with OEM agencies, senior leaders, decision-makers and CMOs.
  • Demonstrate a high level of attentiveness towards OEMs and actively contribute to a culture that encourages high-quality service with a sense of urgency.
  • Develop trusting relationships and open communication, while accepting feedback (up and down).

Your Expertise:

  • Proven leadership experience in OEM business development, strategic partnerships, or related roles within the OEM industry.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and managing OEM partnership to achieve business growth objectives.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze market trends and identify growth opportunities.
  • You’ll need a deep understanding of the OEM advertising landscape and have established relationships across multiple OEM’s.
  • A strong analytical mind that can review dashboards, analyze data, and create insights to make recommendations and optimizations for the betterment of the OEM programs.
  • Ability to prioritize opportunities across multiple OEMs, evaluate them based on level of effort versus performance impact, and ultimately gain internal alignment to actuate ideas to fruition.
  • Demonstrated success in relationship management of a large portfolio of accounts and working at scale.
  • Tech-savvy with the ability to understand, interpret, and present data with a consultative approach.
  • The ability to grasp new concepts quickly with an open mind for change and a willingness to solve problems.
  • Proven track record of excellent client service.
  • Expertise in interfacing with client contacts at various levels.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to effectively present information, including complex technical content, listen for understanding, influence outcomes, and respond to client requirements/requests.
  • Ability to understand client standards and requirements pertaining to offered products, features, and capabilities.
  • Ability to communicate client requirements and methodologies to internal stakeholders to ensure alignment.
  • Ability to represent the company within an assigned book of business.
  • Ability to utilize state-of-the-art office software and learn new software (i.e. Tableau, Google Analytics, others)
  • Self-starter with integrity, a strong work ethic, and a high level of energy.
  • Experience in building strong relationships with clients and key internal stakeholders across organizational and departmental boundaries.
  • Ability to travel by airplane or car including overnight trips up to 50% of the time.

Base salary: $141,000 - $216,000
