The Manager has the assigned responsibility to carry out the organization’s mission and policies established by the Board, focusing on Revenue Enhancement and Community Engagement. The Manager reports to the Executive Director of the Society. This is a 40% position, with the potential for expansion of hours in the future.
Established in 1973, the Society, through its operation of the Museum, is committed to be an actively collecting repository dedicated to research, collection and preservation of historical documents, artifacts, memories and events, and utilizing interpretative displays and engaging in creative public educational programming.
Responsibilities
Revenue Enhancement
Collaborate with the development committee of the board to establish fundraising expectations and ensure regular reporting in partnership with the board President
Provide strategy and leadership to the museum’s revenue activities, including the implementation of earned revenue and fundraising plans, and activities including active member and donor cultivation.
Oversee grant application calendar and work with museum staff to prepare and submit grant applications, monitoring compliance and reporting within grant parameters.
Build mutually beneficial relationships with local businesses.
Coordinate with the capital campaign for the major Museum Reimagined program that is in its early stages.
Embrace other revenue enhancement responsibilities as needed.
Community Engagement
Promote, recruit, and manage the museum’s volunteer program.
Serve as an advocate and public spokesperson for the museum, implementing a cohesive, disciplined communications and public relations strategy that includes online marketing, social media, press releases, newsletters, and other communication tools to raise the museum’s activities and brand throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Develop an active, annual marketing calendar and robust public relations campaign, as well as expand the Museum’s dynamic website content to reflect and connect with all audiences.
Actively engage in community activities to represent the museum to civic and public leaders, educational and community organizations, and nonprofit partners and develop collaborative partnerships that increase both museum visibility and visitation and participation in its programs and events.
Advance programming and initiatives to increase opportunities and access for local schools and new visitors of all ages and backgrounds locally, regionally, and nationally.

Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, fundraising (esp. nonprofit) or relevant field such as in museology or non-profit management
2 years of management experience or equivalent
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Strong organizational and communication skills
