The Los Angeles Chargers are seeking an experienced sports communications professional to join our team as Coordinator, Football Communications, to assist our team of talented communications professionals and work together to create and execute communications strategies to benefit the Chargers in the local and national media landscape.
Responsibilities
Aid in the day-to-day operation of the Communications department, contributing to the strategic execution of departmental tasks and ventures
Contribute to Football Communications materials and information outlets, including Weekly Game Releases, Postgame Notes, Press Releases, player and coach biographies, the club’s annual Media Guide, etc.
Coordinate, facilitate and execute both external and internal media requests
Serve as a liaison for television and radio broadcast crews on a weekly basis, including the preseason
Compile and distribute News Clippings and serve as a lead for Transcriptions
Contribute to the development and execution of all media availabilities
Prepare the Flip Card and GameDay information materials for all home games
Research, collect and analyze data and statistical figures for use in departmental publications and digital media initiatives
Provide support with the department’s credentialing efforts
Monitor club involvement within the National and Local News landscape, as well as on social media platforms
Contribute to the oversight and supervision of GameDay Staff, serving as a resource for staff members in a day-of-game capacity involving Press Box operations and postgame transcriptions
Serve as a liaison and representative of the organization and Communications department at community-related functions and club initiatives
Collaborate on the development and execution of football and business communications campaigns and initiatives.
Contribute to internal communications efforts, as needed
Assist with the development and implementation of communication strategies surrounding community efforts and marketing communications affairs
Required Qualifications
Two (2) years of prior communications experience with a professional sports organization or college Sports Information Department
The ability to work all games, including holidays and weekends
Possess strong written and organizational skills, along with a keen attention to detail
Experience with daily clips, transcriptions and football communications research methods
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
Experience with an NFL communications department preferred
Ability to multi-task, manage simultaneous requests and deadlines, and perform in fast-paced environments
Self-starter with attention to detail who can manage projects and initiatives independently
Possess excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills and proficiency with computer technology, including Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe InDesign
