This position has a thorough understanding of the operational processes of the organization and is responsible for designing, developing, installing, managing and/or maintaining equipment which is used to monitor and control assembly processes, engineering systems, and machinery. It is a multidisciplinary role, working closely with colleagues across a number of functions, including Design, Operations, Maintenance and Purchasing.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
Maintaining and/or modifying systems containing the following devices and associated software:
Communication networks – Ethernet, ProfiNet, Profibus, Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, Serial (RS232)
Vision systems – Cognex, Banner, Keyence
SCADA systems – WinCC, Ignition, Promon
Robots – Kuka, Denso, Staubli, Epson, Fanuc
Servos and VFDs – Kistler, Siemens, Allen Bradley, Control Techniques, IAI
Evaluating existing process equipment programming, controls, and electronics. Implementing changes and upgrades related to continued process improvement efforts, all in accordance with company change management policies and procedures.
Assist as needed in Troubleshooting, problem-solving, and modifying existing electrical and electronic systems, including controls systems for all new and existing Pierburg process equipment per NEC and NFPA regulations.
Provide technical support to the plant on engineering matters to reduce downtime.
Technician/s as well as Engineering Department personnel as needed.
Perform reviews of the preventative maintenance program and improve areas where required.
Developing requests for quotations as needed to meet the scope of improvements, upgrades, and customer needed changes primarily related to, but not limited to the Controls and Electrical/Electronic related projects.
Develop and maintain Technical Information for the maintenance department.
Monitor frequency and modes of equipment failures and breakdowns to drive root cause analysis, suggest changes to processes and equipment to prevent reoccurrence.
Provide on-the-job coaching to the maintenance technicians in the team and develop problem solving skills.
Develop short, medium and long-term improvement plans to achieve maintenance objectives.
Coordinate the preparation for all maintenance related project technical documents to ensure that all content and cost are within the scope of work.
What Qualifications You Should Have
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
3+ years in automotive manufacturing or automated assembly experience
