Controller - Denton, TX (150k-175k)

LHH is working with a company in the Denton area that is seeking a new Controller. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with the C-level team, reporting directly to the CFO and FP&A, and contributing significantly to our operational and financial strategy. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical accounting, GAAP principles, and operational finance, ideally gained from 3 years in public accounting, with experience in a Big 4 or similar firm.

Job Responsibilities:

• Manage all accounting functions across entities
• Focus on optimizing after-tax returns on investments enterprise-wide.
• Partner with FP&A to deliver high-quality monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.
• Prepare financial statements and reports in compliance with GAAP or international standards.
• Lead annual audits by external auditors, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
• Enhance controls and processes in collaboration with finance and non-accounting teams.
• Maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure audit compliance.
• Oversee month-end close, reconciliations, variance analyses, and reporting to senior management.
• Support debt compliance reporting and provide business performance analysis.
• Mentor and develop the accounting team while optimizing functions across diverse business units.
• Analyze complex financial data to provide strategic recommendations to management.
• Execute special ad hoc projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting required; CPA preferred.
• 10-15 years of experience, including 3-4 years in a Big 4 or next tier firm preferred.
• Strong grasp of GAAP and ability to provide technical accounting guidance.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Leadership qualities with high emotional intelligence and integrity.
• Ability to work independently with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
• Creative thinker, problem solver, and self-motivated individual.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with SaaS companies and ASC 606 preferred.
• Deadline-driven with diverse analytical capabilities.
• Prior experience in systems implementation advantageous.
