  • Our Legal Services, Social Services, and Weatherization programs meet community members’ basic needs including housing, income, nutrition and health.
  • Our Community Organizing program empowers groups of residents to collectively secure longer term and larger scale improvements to their own basic needs.
  • Our Education & Career Services program imparts individual community members with the practical tools necessary to build secure and prosperous futures.

Summary Of Responsibilities

NMIC is looking for a highly organized Communications & Development Officer to join our Development team. This role plays a crucial part in expanding NMIC’s outreach by assisting in drafting newsletters, external emails, digital media communications, outreach materials, website content, fundraising materials and acknowledgements, and marketing campaigns. Some administrative duties are also involved. The ideal candidate is deeply dedicated and resourceful, able to work effectively both independently and collaboratively, and is committed to driving positive social change. This position offers a hybrid work model.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

External Communications (50%)

  • Maintain an agency style guide and appropriate templates to ensure high-quality and consistent agency-wide communication.
  • Design and provide copy for select printed materials distributed by NMIC (e.g., annual report, agency brochure, promotional items, mailings, newsletter content, and media releases/statements, etc.) and individual program materials (e.g., program flyers, registration forms, etc.).
  • Maintain and update all agency digital content including social media, e-blasts, blog, and website.
  • Draft content for NMIC’s website and assist with website maintenance for programmatic content, in coordination with programmatic teams.
  • Oversee social media platforms, including updating internal tracking tools, generating reports on reach/impact, and assisting with content when needed.
  • Monitor communications/fundraising performance indicators/metrics and prepare regular reports.
  • Update and maintain NMIC’s press lists and media tracking tools.
  • Support other communications related activities and events as needed and other administrative duties as assigned.

Development (50%)

  • Help plan and coordinate logistics for fundraising events.
  • Oversee the gift acknowledgement process, including assisting with drafting/updating thank-you letters and making donor thank you calls as assigned.
  • Create visual collateral for events, social media, and the website.
  • Provide copy editing assistance on NMIC communications, grants, and fundraising material.
  • Work together with the Director of Development to draft campaigns, appeals, and other collateral related to donor solicitation.
  • Support other development organizational activities and events as needed and other administrative duties as assigned.
  • Additional related responsibilities may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient in asset-framing centered writing with excellent writing skills.
  • 5 years of experience.
  • Strong grasp of English grammar, punctuation, copy editing, and proofreading.
  • Exceptional project organizing skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, manage time effectively, and evaluate progress.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, works cooperatively with teams and stakeholders, treats everyone with respect, accepts constructive criticism, and approaches situations with humor.
  • Preferred experience with WordPress, Canva, CRMs, and other graphic design platforms.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaker preferred.

SALARY RANGE: $75,000 to $80,000

Benefits

Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, life, and disability insurance; paid time off consisting of 20 vacation days, 15 sick days, 5 personal days, 11 agency holidays, plus the week off from Christmas Eve through New Year's Day; a 401k with agency contribution; and other benefits.
