General Description Of The Role, Mission & Objectives

The Commercial Finance Manager (CFM) plays a pivotal role in driving financial strategies, analyzing market trends, and maximizing profitability for the company. The CFM will be responsible for providing financial insights, supporting decision-making processes, and collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives. In partnership with key Sales stakeholders, the CFM will drive profitable growth through an increased focus on the effectiveness and profitability of Sales spend and through the proactive identification of profit/growth opportunities.

This role requires a deep understanding of finance principles, a keen eye for market dynamics, and a passion for the spirit industry.

Key Responsibilities And Activities

1 – FP&A and Reporting:

Planning

  • Coordinate yearly implementation of Pricing Strategy as part of the Budget exercise in collaboration with the Sales Function.
  • Work closely with P&RG to align on pricing optimization opportunities and embed them in the yearly negotiation with Campari Sales force and Distributors.
  • Consolidate and submit market and regional data as required to support the company Budget Planning and overall forecasting processes (SP, Monthly Forecasts….).

Analysis

  • Research, analyze and monitor Market depletion and size mix trends, financial rate per case trends and variances to prior year and budget monthly to identify risks and opportunities, and proactively provide recommendations to management to mitigate identified risks and to improve mix and profitability.
  • Prepare market specific analysis and recommendations in support of improved profitability, utilizing competitive industry information.
  • Develop Market analysis of distributor profitability by brand and for total portfolio.

Reporting

  • Compile & coordinate Monthly Business Reviews on Market performance against Budget and business KPI’s.
  • Monitor budget variances and provide insights to management on potential risks and opportunities.

2 – Commercial Support:

  • Provide analytic support to the GSM/DVP & SM to maximize profitable sales and assess the efficiency and effectiveness of deferred discount programs from design to execution; ensure programs are consistent with overall brand pricing strategy, promotional guardrails, and budget allocation.
  • Provide analytic support with breakeven & ROI analysis to determine the feasibility, financial return on investment, estimated spend and forecasted goals (target KPI's) for Market Commercial A&P programs.
  • Assess the financial impact of new product launches, pricing changes, and market expansions.

3 – Pricing management:

  • Manage the Commercial Master Data (Xtel) and ensure accurate and timely pricing in SAP.
  • Maintain Regional P&Ls and Price Chains by Market, Brand and Pack.
  • Lead & coordinate the planning and implementation of strategic price changes across the three-tier market, supporting negotiating with both internal and external stakeholders to maximize Campari’s GP and GM%.
  • Monitor Pricing compliance across Brands and markets and report exception to the P&RG team.
  • Coordinate implementation of newly acquired brands in partnership with the Business Integration team and Sales.
  • Influence tactical price changes in market given elasticities and analysis around Price-Pack-Architecture & Promotional Depth & Frequency.
  • Execute, track & implement price & promotion test as part of the P&RG Task Force.

  • CFMs, P&RG, Brand FP&A, Sales (GSM/DVP/SM), Sales Operations, Marketing, Consumer and Customer Marketing, Business Insights (Team ASIST), Customer Service.

External:

  • Consultants

Education / Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, mathematics, or a related field.
  • 4+ years’ experience in pricing analysis required; + Cat Dev and/or market research preferred.
  • 4+ years’ experience in creating models, working with large data sets, and showcasing strong analytical skills with proficiency in quantitative analysis, statistical techniques, and data manipulation; Expertise in Microsoft Office (Excel & Powerpoint), Power Query, and Power BI required + SQL, Python, & SAP preferred.
  • 2+ years’ experience in food & beverage or hospitality required, BevAlc & 3-Tier Distribution preferred.
  • Previous experience in the spirit industry or related consumer goods industry strongly preferred.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in analysis and reporting, with the ability to transition between minute details and high-level analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with finance, marketing, sales, and CCM in a fast-paced, dynamic environment (cross-functionally).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Gross Profit Mindset, Commercial P&L expertise, and Breakeven analysis experience required.
  • Self-starter & curious mindset preferred.
  • Stakeholders' management, to deal with different layers (Global & Regional) and seniority levels.
  • Not afraid to learn by doing in an independent and team environment.
  • Result oriented, respecting deadlines.
  • Ability to constructively challenge process and requests.
  • Flexibility to work with different time zones globally.

Mobility

Availability to travel within US and globally as needed.

The expected base salary for this position ranges from $114,600 - $143,300. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors and considerations. In addition to base salary and a generous employee benefits package, employees are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
