The Chief Fundraising and Development Officer will lead the full range of fundraising efforts for SAVE-Suicide Awareness Voices of Education to support our four pillars of suicide prevention: Education, Training, Advocacy and Support for suicide loss survivors.
This work is both strategic and hands-on. The Chief Fundraising and Development Officer will be responsible for creating a robust individual giving, annual fund, corporate/foundation giving in the forms of sponsorship and philanthropic grants, in partnership with the Executive Director with support from the Director of Programs, the Director of Marketing and Communications and the Business Manager.
This individual is an entrepreneurial and seasoned fundraising professional with a passion for growing a non-profit with a mission focused on saving lives. They embrace and represent the mission and vision of SAVE, and inspire others with their enthusiasm, knowledge, and integrity.
This individual is capable of identifying and strategizing potential corporate, individual and foundation partners for effective solicitation by the Executive Director, the Director of Development, and others as appropriate.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Front-line Fundraising and Strategy (70%)
Identifies and qualifies major gift prospects and donors with primary focus on qualifying prospects and closing major gifts of $25,000 to $50,000
Serves as the primary architect and guide for SAVE fundraising, including the development of case materials
Works directly to develop, lead and support SAVE fundraising events, and works directly with outside organizations to support their fundraising events on behalf of SAVE
In coordination with the Executive Director, sets fundraising goals and objectives and develops and executes strategies for cultivating and soliciting major gifts, planned gifts, and corporate/foundation gifts
Leads the preparation and delivery of progress reports for donors regarding the impact of their gifts/grants
Identifies, clears, and coordinates prospective donor meetings for solicitation by the Executive Director and when appropriate others within the organization, including members of the SAVE Board of Directors
Ensures a cohesive annual giving strategy
Collaboration and Coaching (30%)
Work collaboratively with SAVE Staff to develop fundraising proposals and strategies that advance the organizations programmatic initiatives
Collaborate with SAVE Staff external vendors on the development of materials and coordination of events that support fundraising objectives and donor recognition
Manage the organizations donor databases in partnership with the Business Manager
Ensures timely and appropriate follow-up and thank-you messages to donors
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and five years demonstrated ability to successfully solicit major gifts; or experience in marketing, sales, public relations, financial advisement, or related field with emphasis on relationship cultivation and solicitation of individuals/businesses
Demonstrated track record of securing gifts of $25,000 and above
Experience working with a small team and supporting and enabling volunteer engagement with the organization
Demonstrated ability to promote and successfully solicit gifts, manage a prospect portfolio, design, and implement cultivation and solicitation strategies, and ensure follow-up activities and stewardship
Proven ability to work effectively and tactfully with a diverse group of internal and external constituents
Ability to work independently and with excellent judgment and attention to detail
Master storyteller - excellent written and oral communication skills
Impeccable and detail-oriented organization, planning, and problem-solving skills
Thrives in a collaborative environment
Operates with integrity and discretion
Access to reliable transportation and ability to travel for donor visits is required
Knowledge of grant writing, research and process
Experience in C-Suite level engagement
Experience and expertise with CRM and fundraising software and donor databases
Capital campaign experience
Events development and management experience
