General Duties:
Performs weighing, filling, labeling, and other packaging operations
General warehouse duties relating to packaging materials such as unloading bottle trucks and keeping packaging materials in order.
Completes necessary information for recordkeeping.
Transports bulk material, bottles, caps and supplies to filling location.
Transports packaging goods to warehouse.
Sets up scale, check bottle size, set up containers to be filled.
Sees that all specifications and special instructions are followed on the job card or instruction card.
Performs necessary quality checks. Checks materials to see that they are correct
Responsible for working safely and for producing quality products.
Responsible for maintaining assigned equipment clean and in good condition.
Warehouse Area:
Reads customer order, work order, shipping order, or requisition to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
Conveys materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
Sorts and places materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code. Ensures proper storage of products.
Fills requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other stock items and distributes items to production workers or assembly line.
Assembles customer orders from stock and places orders on pallets or shelves, or conveys orders to packing station or shipping department.
Marks materials with identifying information.
Opens boxes, cans, crates, and other containers.
Inspects incoming and outgoing material for correct markings, labels and damage.
Records amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
Weighs or counts items for distribution within plant to ensure conformance to company standards.
Arranges stock parts in specified sequence for assembly by other workers.
Affixes and/or inspects and verifies labels with correct lot #’s, DOM, product#, etc.
Uses computer or other electronic device to enter records.
Uses forklift or drives vehicle to transport stored items from warehouse to plant locations or to pick up items from several locations for shipment.
Prepares parcels for mailing, shipping or delivering.
Shipping and Receiving Area:
Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Determines method of shipment or delivery.
Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
Assembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers.
Inserts items into containers.
Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages. Inspects incoming and outgoing material for correct markings, labels and damage.
Routes items to departments.
Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
Drives, golf cart or truck/vehicle to deliver or pick up products to and from warehouse on site locations.
REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
MUST BE ABLE TO PASS AND MAINTAIN AN OSHA REQUIRED RESPIRATOR FIT TEST
High School Diploma or GED required.
Chemical Packager candidate must be comfortable working in an environment with hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
Effective verbal and written communication skills including detail orientation and accuracy in documentation..
Ability to work alternately in a seated or standing position is required
Knowledge of safety practices is desirable.
Will perform all other duties as may apply to the existing job description.
Forklift licensed and/or certification
Valid driver’s license
HazMat trained
Currently reside in the San Leandro, CA area and be able to commute daily to our warehouse in San Leandro.
