The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Commerce, our Category Manager will help lead our brand recruitment strategy as we partner with them to challenge the future of live shopping.

You will help identify, attract, and recruit the right Makers to bring onto our platform to attract a new audience: consumers of handmade, artisanal, and small batch products. You will lead communications with prospective brands and makers, recruiting them onto the platform, managing the process from identification through launch for our consumers to shop.

Within vCV, sune is building a next-generation video-driven shopping platform where the story of makers and their creations come alive and are discovered by passionate consumers that love to own & gift the artisanal, hand-crafted & handmade

Your Impact

  • Represent: Be the face of our organization to the Maker community: lead brand/products attraction effort through proactive reach outs, trade shows, craft shows, conferences, and more.
  • Brand identification: Identify products and makers that would be a potential fit to bring onto our platform, identify how to reach them and pitch a partnership.
  • Launch preparation: Implement SKU onboarding, product assortment management, pricing and promotional strategies. Work cross-functionally with tech and marketing to ensure exposure.
  • Pitch: Manage outreach and communications with prospective makers, reporting and recording progress with the rest of the commerce team.
  • Process: Develop best practices to manage outreach and attract makers to the platform, onboard them, and build a launch plans.
  • Refine: Use market research, competitor analysis to refine brand assortment to continue adapting to consumer preferences and latest market trends.
  • Feedback: Use sales performance, user feedback, and app metrics to inform assortment selection criteria.
  • Customer: Refine our understanding of our target consumer, their shopping patterns and product preferences.
  • Performance: Deliver reports and presentations of findings to management and executive leadership.
  • Manage: Onboard and assist new team members as function grows and manage temporary employees, contractors, interns, and Category Analyst.


What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 4 or more years of experience in buying, merchandising, branding or marketing industry or similar role preferred or relevant educational background.
  • Experience directly or indirectly managing others and projects.
  • Knowledge of retail, eCommerce and sales funnels.
  • Excellent research skills and proficiency with Microsoft excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets). Saleforce experience a plus.
  • Experience translating complex concepts and methodologies into easily understood language.

Our compensation package is a competitive combination of base salary, short-term annual bonus, long-term cash-based incentives and a Founder's Bonus for initial team members. Base salary for this role ranges from $115,000-$130,000 plus the strong annual and long-term variable incentives noted. Salary ranges are general guideline only, and actual salaries will vary and are based on factors such as a candidate's qualifications, skills, experience and geographic location as well as business and market conditions. This compensation package provides significant rewards to the candidate over-time based on company performance and personal success.
