Responsibilities
- Essential functions and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Develops and implements grassroots advocate programs to recruit, train and engage volunteers for state and federal policy efforts.
- Creates and delivers volunteer training to support national advocacy programs.
- Designs and maintains tools and resources for advocate volunteers.
- Manages regular communications with advocate volunteers through written, recorded and meeting formats.
- Assists with advocacy training for policy field staff across the country.
- Assists with development of advocacy program best practice guidance.
- Provides advocacy support and guidance to policy field staff as assigned.
- Manages planning and implementation of key grassroots advocacy activities in coordination with Advocacy team colleagues.
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 5 or more years’ experience working on public policy, or other relevant experience, at both the state and federal level. Experience in multiple states is a plus.
- Experience in volunteer recruitment, management, and coalition building.
- Successful experience in advocacy, community organizing, mobilization, and grassroots campaigns.
- Detailed knowledge of state and federal government activities and structures.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with volunteers, staff, and the public as part of a team.
- Strong work ethic, high integrity, and a value of advocate volunteers.
- Adept at simultaneously managing multiple, complex projects in varying stages of development under time constraints.
- Knowledge of voluntary health organizations or affiliate-based organizations is a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent problem solving and strategic thinking skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
- Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends, as required
- Ability and willingness to travel occasionally (up to 20%) by air and ground transportation, with some overnight travel
Position Location: Washington D.C. Office / US Remote
Full time based on 37.5 hours per week
Position Grade: 508 Exempt (Estimated Annual Salary Range $75,000 - $85,000)
