Natera is currently seeking an Associate Director to join our Women's Health Bioinformatics team. The individual will lead a team of Bioinformatics Scientists and will be responsible for the planning and execution of research projects related to Women’s Health. The ideal candidate should be an experienced team leader and have a strong background in algorithm and assay development, sequencing data processing, and experience with full life cycle of product development.
Responsibilities
Envision, plan, and execute research strategies in collaboration with other cross-functional stakeholders
Drive the development of innovative algorithms on ultra-deep sequencing data
Lead a team of Bioinformatics Scientists and support their professional growth
Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence
Work closely with interdisciplinary teams including engineering, biostats, and molecular biology teams to support the development of new products
Contribute to experimental design and ensure data integrity and quality control
Communicate findings clearly across all levels and functions of the company and act as a subject matter expert
Present results at conferences and publish in top-tier journals
Develop and improve analysis pipelines for diagnostic tests, including variant detection and quality control.
Deploy analysis pipelines on the cloud and optimize the resource utilization
Lead assay development and optimization, and troubleshoot wetlab experiments through close collaboration with wetlab scientists
Qualifications
PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Biostatistics, or related field
Minimum of 6-8 years of working in the bioinformatics field and extensive managerial and cross-functional experience
Track-record of leading and developing state-of-the-art and highly impactful computational methods
Highly experienced in algorithm development, data analysis, and machine learning
Experience with multiplex PCR and hybrid capture data
Experience in Python
Experience using Linux command-line tools and writing shell scripts
Ability to visualize findings and summarize results in oral and written form for both technical and non-technical audiences
High scientific rigor and eager to teach and learn about new computational methods and biology
The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
