What we’re looking for

A Project Field Engineer passionate about agricultural construction, valuing quality and integrity, and understanding the importance of collaboration and process governance. The ideal candidate enjoys diving deep into business processes and thrives in a dynamic, project-driven environment. This role requires 100% travel, managing construction projects such as dry fertilizer storage facilities, flat grain storage buildings, and bulk seed/chemical/liquid fertilizer storage buildings across the Continental US.

Major expectations & accountabilities

  • Partner with the Project Superintendent on the day-to-day field operations for agricultural construction projects while meeting management and customer objectives for safety, quality, and schedule.
  • Understand project scope, budget (costs), and subcontractor scopes of work to manage the completion of the project within budget.
  • Utilize management tools such as timecards, daily reports, safety inspections, quality control logs, and project schedules.
  • Coordinate the efforts of all parties involved in the project, including contractors, subcontractors, and the labor force, to ensure work complies with plans, specifications, standards, and meets contract requirements.
  • Create, manage, and communicate 2-week look-aheads.
  • Observe, report, and make educated recommendations on field inconsistencies to the Project Superintendent.
  • Attend, contribute to, and lead or document pre-install, owner, and weekly foremen meetings.
  • Assist with obtaining all necessary project inspections and occupancy approvals.
  • Document and distribute any project changes affecting schedule, design, scope, or cost.
  • Assist with project closeout and punch list processes.
  • Perform additional tasks as requested by management.

What you’ll need to be successful

  • At least 1 to 3 years of construction experience or a college internship with a general contractor, preferably in agricultural construction.
  • Ability to develop and employ direct supervisory skills over construction crews ranging in size from 10 to 50 field personnel.
  • Aptitude for building excellent relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Aptitude for verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • High level of motivation, integrity, and commitment to the team and customers.
  • Strong work ethic, decisiveness, ambition, and an unwavering commitment to quality and professional work.
  • Willingness to travel 100% of the time, managing projects across the Continental US.

Qualifications That Can Set You Apart

  • Preferred: 2 or 4-year Associate degree in Construction Management or Construction Trades.
  • Preferred: OSHA 30 and first aid certification.
  • Required: OSHA 10 certification.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic plans, specifications, and shop drawings.
  • Knowledge of building codes.
  • Proficiency in business software including Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook.
