The Department of Management at Clemson University invites qualified applicants to apply for a tenure-track, full-time faculty position in Supply Chain and Operations Management (SC/OM). We are particularly seeking candidates with promise for or an established high-quality research record and effective teaching for appointment at the assistant professor level.


The ideal candidate would demonstrate a strong commitment to publishing innovative research in premier SC/OM journals that will influence the field, and equally important, who is collegial and interacts effectively with peers in enhancing the intellectual climate of the Department. The candidate should have excellent communication skills and be able to teach at a level consistent with Clemson’s high standards. Junior applicants should have completed their doctoral degree no later than August 14, 2025. All applicants should be available to begin work on August 15, 2025.


The Department of Management has 40 faculty members and offers a B.S. degree in management with six areas of emphasis, a M.S. degree in business analytics, and a Ph.D. degree in Business Administration with tracks in Information Systems, Supply Chain & Operations Management, Strategic Management, Entrepreneurship, and Organizational Behavior. Management faculty members also teach in the College's MBA program. Clemson’s Supply Chain Group has a core group of scholars who work with a set of Information Systems scholars to offer a shared Ph.D. program that allows students to specialize in either information technology or supply chain. These SC/OM Faculty and their Ph.D. students focus on research publications in top journals.

Qualifications

Candidates seeking appointment must have an earned Ph.D. degree. Specific interests in teaching include supply chain management, operations management, logistics and purchasing. Consistent with Clemson University’s objective of joining the ranks of Top 20 public universities, qualified candidates must have a record of or strong potential for publishing boundary spanning research in SC/OM journals, such as POM, M&SOM, Management Science, JOM, and Decision Sciences.


We welcome candidates with rigorous training in empirical methods (including econometrics, behavioral methods, survey research, etc.) and/or analytical modeling who are open to multidisciplinary and multi-method research. Experience working with big data, including data scraping and machine learning, is a plus. Candidates with research expertise in one of the following areas are highly desired: advanced manufacturing and service strategy, supply chain contracting and risk management, supply chains and information technology.
