Westchester Publishing Services is a US employee-owned company founded in 1969, and is considered the premier editorial, production, and digital conversion services provider, supporting the pre-press publication requirements of more than 600 publishers and content providers worldwide. We serve a wide array of clients in trade publishing, university press, academic publishing, industry trade publishing, and policy group spaces among others, including Macmillan, Harvard University Press, The MIT Press, Bloomsbury, and W.W. Norton.
We are seeking an Assistant Production Editor with excellent proofreading skills to work with our book and journals departments. This role is a hybrid position that will require the individual to work 3 days per week on site in our Danbury, CT headquarters and 2 days remote. Candidate must be highly organized, detail oriented, and have a solid command of English language and grammatical conventions. Must have good familiarity with Microsoft Word and the ability to work with various file formats.
The Assistant Production Editor will assist Production Editors with quality control checks, light editing and proofreading, and will have the opportunity to learn to manage projects.
Qualifications required include:
Solid knowledge of English grammar and excellent proofreading skills.
Good familiarity with Microsoft Word and ability to work with various file formats.
Must be detail oriented.
Ability to communicate effectively with others, to accurately carry out instructions, and to prioritize work when necessary.
Previous experience in publishing preferred.
