Job Description

As an ASIC Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end design and implementation of complex digital circuits and systems on ASIC platforms. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including architecture, verification, and physical design to deliver high-performance, low-power ASIC solutions. This role requires strong technical expertise in digital design, RTL coding, verification methodologies, and proficiency in EDA (Electronic Design Automation) tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and design complex digital ASICs from concept to production, ensuring adherence to performance, power, and area goals.
  • Develop microarchitecture specifications, and translate them into RTL (Verilog/VHDL) designs.
  • Conduct RTL coding, synthesis, and timing closure using industry-standard EDA tools (e.g., Synopsys, Cadence).
  • Perform functional verification, including developing test benches, running simulations, and debugging issues.
  • Collaborate with physical design teams on floor planning, placement, routing, and timing closure.
  • Optimize designs for power, performance, and area (PPA) through iterative design improvements.
  • Analyze and debug issues related to timing, power, and functionality throughout the ASIC design cycle.
  • Generate and review design documentation including specifications, design reviews, and test plans.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field. A Master's or PhD may be preferred for senior roles.
  • Proven experience in ASIC design flow including microarchitecture, RTL design, synthesis, and timing closure.
  • Strong understanding of digital design fundamentals, CMOS circuit design, and ASIC design methodologies.
  • Proficiency in EDA tools for ASIC design, verification, and physical implementation.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Tcl, Perl, Python) for automation and data analysis in the ASIC design flow.
  • Familiarity with verification methodologies such as UVM (Universal Verification Methodology) or equivalent.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with low-power design techniques, DFT (Design for Testability), and/or formal verification.
  • Familiarity with advanced technologies such as FinFET, DDR, SerDes, and memory architectures.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices in ASIC design and verification.
  • Publications or patents in the field of ASIC design or related areas.
