Job Summary

Experience Required:

  • At least 5 years experience in relevant stress analysis of advanced composite or metallic structures.
  • Aerospace industry is preferred but other related disciplines may be considered.
  • Bachelor's degree with a Major in Engineering, Mechanical or Aerospace is preferred.
  • Related degrees with relevant experience will be considered.

Skills Required

  • Must have strong knowledge in fundamentals of analysis and design of air vehicle structures.
  • Must have proficiency with finite element analysis of complex models.
  • Must have PC proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must have the ability to communicate efficiently and effectively to coordinate and lead stress activities and report status to program management.
  • Must be able to build and maintain effective relationships with customers, internal and external.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize tasks while maintaining flexibility through the fast paced, evolving environment.

Airframe Stress Engineer Tasks

  • Perform detailed analyses to satisfy strength, stability, stiffness, fatigue, weight, manufacturing, and other requirements for advanced vertical lift composite and metallic structures using both classical and finite element methods.
  • Coordinate closely with Airframe Design but also across multiple engineering, manufacturing, supplier, laboratory, flight test, and project management teams.
  • Communicate status or issues to teammates, leadership, customers, or authorities at completion milestones during the effort.
  • Review detailed part or assembly definition prior to production release.
  • Examine structural or material discrepancies and create associated inspection and repair procedures at production phase.
  • Develop and author test plans, instrumentation requests, monitoring limits, and stress reports to ensure airworthiness.
  • Mentor other engineers when required.
  • Execute Tasks to Cost and Schedule Requirements.
