JOB SUMMARY:
Performs routine duties to assist professional staff engaged in agricultural research. Work day-to-day field operations for genetic experiments, breeding efforts, and seeding increases. Field work will involve preparation and implementation of field trials and plot studies.
JOB DUTIES:
100% - Essential - Oversees the planting, cultivation and harvest of crops. Operates equipment used in agricultural research. Assists with field trials and data collection. Prepares agricultural materials for laboratory testing. Day-to-day field operations work including planting and assisting in developing populations used for a variety of genetic studies.
This position will work from August 1, 2024 - November 29, 2024
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma and experience in agricultural research or animal care that is directly related to the area of employment. An associate degree in animal health technology or a discipline related to agriculture may be substituted for the required work experience.

No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.

No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
50% - Stand for prolonged period
20% - Sit (stationary position) for prolonged period
60% - Walk or move about
20% - Use hands or feet to operate or handle machinery, equipment, etc
15% - Ascend or descend (i.e. stairs, ladder)
45% - Position self to accomplish task (i.e. stoop, kneel, crawl)
60% - Communicate, converse, give direction, express oneself
80% - Recognize or inspect visually
50% - Move, transport, raise or lower
75% - Extends hands or arms in any direction
75% - Perceive, observe, clarity of vision
WORKING CONDITIONS:
60% - Exposure to heat or cold
WORK SCHEDULE:
Standard Hrs: 40
Compensation Information
Band: 03 $18.00 hourly rate
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
Essential Personnel Level
Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
