JOB SUMMARY:

The key function of the Activity Assistant is to work with the Activity Director to implement an ongoing program of activities that are designed to meet the identified interests as well as the physical, mental, and psychosocial needs of each patient or resident. The CAA is expected to partner with other members of the team including, but not limited to Admissions, Nursing, Customer Service, Social Service and Dietary in order to promote and meet the psychosocial well-being of the patients, residents and their families. Promoting and developing positive peer relationships is an essential role function for the CAA.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists in maintaining a balanced resident centered activity program for the Villa center by following the Activity Program Guidelines, Programming Guide(s) and direction from immediate supervisor.
  • Reviews, reads, notates, and initializes the Daily Log and Department Log to document and learn about pertinent information and any resident’s physical and behavioral changes as well as activities information.
  • Demonstrates proficiency and understands the QA (Quality Assurance Process) & essential quality service standards pertaining to enriching resident centered activities and programming.
  • Partners with community team in striving for excellent quality care & service delivery as measured in the QA process.
  • Partners with community team to ensure community follows all federal, state, local laws & regulations & Sunrise quality standards for resident care and services.
  • Partners with community team to ensure community is in compliance with OSHA requirements and promotion of Risk Management programs and policies.
  • Adheres to safety rules and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to lead activities and motivate volunteers and fellow team members for their involvement in the social events and various scheduled social activities.
  • Maintains a current appropriate federal and state license such as CDL (commercial driver’s license) and/or chauffeur license, applicable state license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with State, Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and Sunrise policy.
  • Ability to relate positively, favorably, and cooperatively with others, including associates, residents, family members, and personnel of outside agencies and organizations.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Basic-advanced computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Positive disposition and a willingness to socialize.
  • Strong propensity for cooperation, collaboration, and teamwork.
  • Willingness to actively engage in Villa’s organizational culture.
  • Encouraging, dedicated, and respectful.
  • Travel: Up to 10%.


EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Has active or in pursuit of NCCAP certification.
  • One (1) year job related experience preferred in senior living communities.


ENVIRONMENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Limited potential for exposure to environmental hazards. Understanding and adherence to company safety standards and protocols required.
