Here's how you can make yourself stand out as a project manager during interviews.
Managers like to hear about quantifiable successes. Results matter. Was the project under budget - by how much? Did you exceed expectations - how so? Were you able to improve or streamline processes - give details. At the end of the day in Project Management you can have a great resume, speak the language, be a great leader, and communicator but it's the results that matter. Having a history of success is key.

The advantages of contract work are multiple. Maintaining cash flow, networking, skills development, skills maintenance, and the potential to be hired long term with the firm you're consulting with. However, in my career there is a downside that many either don't discuss or discuss in private. Becoming 'stuck' in a consulting or temporary cycle is a very real possibility. When coaching professionals on the best path forward I typically encourage a 'Parallel Search' perspective. Performing your consulting work by day and continuing to search for the right permanent role in the evening or early am. Update and improve the resume continuously and not letting up on the perm search. This ensures landing the right role.

What is the best way to handle a candidate's counteroffer?
Knowing why your candidate is making a career move is the first key to effectively handling a counteroffer. If they're purely driven by compensation, they'll likely accept a counteroffer. If their issues are unsolvable in their current role, they'll more than likely move to a new firm.
