We officially announced the Qualified Teams for #XPRIZEWildfire’s Autonomous Wildfire Response track at the Esri Safety and Security Summit in San Diego! 🔥 Through this track, teams will transform how fires are managed and fought by rapidly and autonomously detecting and completely suppressing a destructive, high-risk fire in an environmentally challenging area with dramatically greater speed, accuracy, and precision than current best-in-class solutions, leaving any decoy fires untouched. We look forward to seeing these teams continue to develop their technology as they move forward to semifinals. The #XPRIZERainforest Impact Day was jam-packed with solution showcases, idea discussions, and invaluable panels. Get a recap of the panels below! 🌱⬇️ Panel 1: Enabling Bioeconomies: This panel focused on how rapid biodiversity assessment tools, like those developed by XPRIZE Rainforest teams, can enable the creation of new bioeconomies that promote a sustainable economic development model in harmony with nature and which can ultimately empower local communities and show the true value of the standing forest. João Francisco Maria moderated the panel which featured panelists: ➡️ Nobel Laureate Carlos A. Nobre  ➡️ Reina Otsuka (Digital Lead for Nature and Climate, UNDP)  ➡️ Vanda Witoto (Executive Director, Instituto Witoto)  ➡️ Marcelo Furtado (Head of Sustainability, Itaúsa) Panel 2: Protected Areas: Better biodiversity data can support protected areas, more effectively map the biodiversity in existing protected areas, and support the restoration of large areas of degraded forest. This can aid nations in achieving their 30x30 goals, as well as other targets outlined in the Global Biodiversity Framework, by 2030. Pedro Hartung moderated the panel which featured panelists: ➡️ Eduardo Taveira (Secretary of Environment State of Amazonas)  ➡️ Julie Messias (Secretary of Environment State of Acre)  ➡️ Natalie Unterstell (President of Instituto Talanoa) ➡️ Oris Sanjur (XPRIZE Rainforest Advisory Board member and Deputy Director of STRI) Panel 3: Inspiring Action + Awareness The impact of improved biodiversity monitoring—like species recoveries and the creation of new protected areas—can be used to inspire, educate, and mobilize people to protect and preserve the planet’s tropical forests for all of humanity. Fernanda Flandoli moderated the panel which featured panelists: ➡️ Tasso Azevedo (Founder, Imaflora) ➡️ Phelippe Daou Junior (CEO, Grupo Rede Amazônica) ➡️ Vanessa Apurinã (COIAB) XPRIZE Rainforest is sponsored by Alana. cc: Instituto Alana, Peter Houlihan

It’s all about…IMPACT! 🌱 #XPRIZERainforest recently hosted an Impact Day in Manaus, Brazil to discuss the future of the prize and the impact these technologies can make. “All of the teams represented here will be testing the solutions that they’ve been developing. And then, it’s: where do we go from here? How do these solutions get adopted, implemented, and scaled so that they’re not just technologies developed for a competition, but technologies with actual real-world, meaningful applications that the world needs now?” - XPRIZE EVP, Biodiversity + Conservation Peter Houlihan   See more highlights from Impact Day below! 🌱 The finalist teams presented their solutions to attendees, giving more information about their groundbreaking technologies and their plans for the future. We also had several partnerships announced throughout the day. We are incredibly grateful for the support of our amazing partners. 🤝 UNDP: XPRIZE is joining forces with UNDP to get the technologies from the XPRIZE Rainforest competition into the hands of communities around the world who can use them to establish and manage protected areas, enable new bioeconomies, and accelerate other conservation efforts. 🤝 State of Acre and State of Amazonas: Secretary of Environment State of Acre Julie Messias and Secretary of Environment State of Amazonas Eduardo Taveira joined us at Impact Day to sign an LOI with XPRIZE. The partnership will focus on leveraging cutting-edge biodiversity assessment technologies to conduct comprehensive and rapid assessments of biodiversity in the State of Acre and State of Amazonas' rainforests. 🤝 MDIC (Ministry of Development, Industry, and Foreign Trade): MDIC has been a key partner supporting Finals Testing and XPRIZE was thrilled to have Secretary of Green Economy, Decarbonization, and Bioindustry Rodrigo Rollemberg sign an LOI on stage, extending MDIC’s commitment to support our finalist teams scaling their technologies in the Amazon Basin through the prize's Impact Phase. 🤝 One Tree Planted: One Tree Planted will collaborate with XPRIZE and competing teams to advance the use of innovations emerging from the XPRIZE Rainforest to better understand the impact of restoration projects on biodiversity. 🤝 Ponterra: Ponterra will collaborate with XPRIZE to incorporate innovations emerging from XPRIZE Rainforest to measure the biodiversity impacts of Ponterra restoration projects in Panama and Latin America to demonstrate new nature credit models. 🤝 Glocal / G20: Glocal announced that they are partnering with XPRIZE to promote the prize through the Impact Phase and help amplify awareness of the teams and their solutions.
