Thank you to AcademyHealth for hosting an insightful and productive Annual Research Meeting! As the largest forum for health services research, this year’s event included new research, methods and collaborative dialogue to advance health policy and practice. Waymark’s Data Science team—led by Sadiq Y. Patel and Bhairavi Muralidharan—was selected to present two papers( ❗ ) at the conference, focused on reducing acute care utilization among patients receiving Medicaid. We're proud of the work our Data Science team is doing to advance the evidence base in Medicaid care delivery. Most importantly, thank you to our care team members for tirelessly working to serve our Medicaid patients every day! #ARM2024 #medicaid #populationhealth #datascience

H/T to Fortune Well for highlighting how tools like Waymark Signal — our proprietary ML algorithm to identify rising risk patients — can help providers achieve true value-based care by reducing unnecessary ER and hospital utilization. Read the full article 👇 #valuebasedcare #medicaid #fortunehealth
“Unfortunately, so much value-based care is kind of operating almost like a loyalty rewards program, rather than truly something that can change what’s paid for in health care,” Waymark CEO Dr. Rajaie Batniji said at #FortuneHealth. The U.S. health system has often been criticized for putting profits above patients with exorbitant fees and overcomplicated processes that get in the way of keeping people healthy. Value-based care was supposed to fix that, but skewed incentives on the part of some medical providers are getting in the way of changing the delivery of care, according to experts. When it comes to value-based care, most organizations aren’t going beyond the bare minimum. Read more: bit.ly/3UTuJQH

ICYMI: Our CEO Rajaie Batniji spoke at Fortune Brainstorm Health this week on value-based care and AI. Thanks to Christina Farr, Sachin H. Jain, MD, MBA, and Brent Nicholson for an insightful discussion! “So much of how we talk about AI in healthcare is focused on replacing humans, and I think that’s totally wrong. Our approach to AI development is to automate the routine tasks so that we can allow our care team to spend as much as possible with patients. Second, let’s automate the identification of which patients are going to benefit from certain services so that we can spend our time targeting the appropriate groups. That’s where you have step-change in improving access to care.” Watch the recording here: https://wymrk.co/3KdruPb
