It’s wonderful to walk along sidewalks, enjoy great parks, get clean water at our faucets, and bike or drive on our well-maintained roads. These luxuries of modern life are made possible by those in Public Works. We offer our sincere thanks to the workers who maintain, build, design, and care for our public works infrastructure. This “peanutabout” took home two more honors. Congratulations to the City of Paso Robles and the project team! Thanks to ASCE San Luis Obispo for recognizing the innovative Golden Hills Union Road Intersection "peanut-shaped" roundabout as the 2024 Outstanding Roadway & Highway Project and 2024 Outstanding Transportation Project. Check out this test run of a 107-foot-long big rig with a low bed clearance of just 4 inches. Yes, big trucks can use roundabouts! https://lnkd.in/gM7Arykw

We are thrilled to see another project break ground! A new roundabout and park and ride (mobility hub) at the Avila Beach Drive/US 101 Interchange will begin construction, offering cyclists, pedestrians, and motorists a reprieve from the congestion. Jorge Aguilar, PE, Principal of Civil Engineering and Transportation, was the Project Manager leading this project. Wallace Group's Sarah Huffman, P.E. was the Project Engineer, with a host of other staff and team members lending their expertise to engineer a solution that will leave a lasting benefit for our community and visitors alike! This is also one of many projects where the Wallace Group's Landscape Architecture Department synergized beauty with functionality with Ann Sever, PLA, LEED AP, Suzanne Baird, PLA, and Matthew Wilkins, PLA bringing their expertise and working with Caltrans Landscape Architects to jointly create a great vision to the project. As we conclude World Landscape Architecture Month, we thank our entire LA team for their many contributions!

A very enthusiastic congratulations to The Land Conservancy of San Luis Obispo County! Over the last forty years, LCSLO has permanently conserved over 39,000 acres and created over 16 miles of trails in addition to leading education on the importance of connecting to and preserving our beautiful natural surroundings. We are grateful for having the opportunity to partner with LCSLO in their great work for our community and proudly offer our support!

It’s fitting that today we celebrate both Earth Day and World Landscape Architecture Month. Suzanne Baird’s work at the Santa Maria Sports Complex is a wonderful example of just one way our team of landscape architects makes a positive impact in local communities. #WLAM #earthday2024
