The works created in art therapy are not simply a mode for processing thoughts and emotions but a tool that Vista residents and students use to communicate with the world around them. The Katia Francesconi Charitable Foundation’s generous donations support the belief that art therapy provides immeasurable benefits for helping youth develop and tap into their most authentic selves. A recent art project headed by Vista Art therapist and NPS Clinician Schelsey Mahammadie-Sabet led students through an Earth Day-themed endeavor in which students gathered organic materials found throughout the campus to begin the creation of a massive fabric representing the world at large. To highlight the areas where students made marks, the art therapist and other staff traced each area and painted in the surrounding region with light blue paint. The result is reminiscent of an atlas populated with continents, which offers a unique lens of the perceptions of the Vista School students. Farewell Friday 🌼This week, our Vista Outpatient Team celebrated Clinician Maddie Levitt’s final week at our agency.
