The potential for artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR) in home textile applications was a major focus at the 2024 edition of Heimtextil. Several exhibitors demonstrated digital innovations which employ AI and AR, including fabric design applications, image generators and software programmes. The Millshop Online presented an AI fabric design application called FabricGenie which is said to represent the first AI technology of its kind to be employed in the home textiles industry. At the same time, VARIANT3D demonstrated a software application called Loop which is capable of transforming two-dimensional (2D) models into knit-to-shape programmes for making 3D knitted products. MANND demonstrated an image generator called Interactive Design Studio which is capable of producing interior design concepts based on data entered into a user interface (UI). Meanwhile, Augmented Weaving showcased an AR technology developed in collaboration with Penelope CAD Systems which can display high quality digital prototypes of “real life” textile samples. https://bit.ly/4bX84Kj #hometextiles #interiors #heimtextil #design #designtrends #AI #AR #software #fabric #textiles #knit #samples Heimtextil Messe Frankfurt GmbH

We are truly honored to share our collaboration with David Horvitz! The 9 x 16 ft banner for 'Abandoning the Room' in Milan was crafted at our Malibu HQ, with yarn that endured the 2018 Woolsey Fire. David used charcoal sourced from the bark of oak trees that withstood the fire, integrating natural elements directly into the design. It reflects abstract patterns that echo the dynamic forms of clouds and smoke seen during the fire. This meaningful project demonstrates our commitment to combining creativity and technology through LOOP, bringing artistic ideas to life.

Concluding our pilot project series, we invite you to revisit the journey from its beginning to its completion. Learn about the design and modeling of cushions using LOOP’s 3D workspace, which showcased our software’s ability to develop knit-to-shape patterns. We filled six cushions with new foam and repurposed six more in line with our commitment to sustainability. This project was a testament to the synergy of textiles, technology, and architecture, and we look forward to advancing the possibilities of 3D-printed textiles and CAD/CAM systems.

Last month, we wrapped up our pilot project in collaboration with Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) and The Woolmark Company. In this series, we begin by showcasing our collaborations with LACI, Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Südwolle Group, and The Woolmark Company. Swipe to see how each alliance played a role! Our project demonstrates our philosophy of fostering innovation through a blend of technology, creativity, and collaboration. Through our LOOP software, we refine workflows and enhance design and manufacturing processes, championing the adoption of 3D-printed textiles. Our commitment to facilitating seamless industry interactions aims to bring together businesses, suppliers, and manufacturers for transformative outcomes.
