Ruslan was forced to flee his home in Ukraine after the full-scale Russian invasion. He found safety in Budapest with his mother and father. Ruslan is just one of millions of people who have been forced to flee their homes because of the war. Since February 2022, more than 6.5 million people have fled from Ukraine, in addition to the more than 3.5 million who have been internally displaced inside the country. Today, the devastation continues. This week, deadly missiles hit multiple cities in Ukraine, including Kyiv, Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Slovyansk and Kramatorsk. Many people have already been confirmed dead with numbers still increasing. Buildings, like Kyiv’s Children’s Hospital Ohmatdyt, have sustained significant damage. These attacks highlight the ongoing severity of the full-scale war in Ukraine. We stand with the people of Ukraine and call for immediate respect for international humanitarian law and the protection of civilians. 📸: © UNHCR/Zsolt Balla
