As a reminder, fireworks are not allowed on any U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-managed lands. Based on federal regulations, possession of explosives or explosive devices of any kind, including fireworks or other pyrotechnics, is prohibited unless written permission has been received from the District Commander. Fireworks can be an explicit danger to the surrounding public, wildlife, and habitat so please check with your local city, county and state governments to find a permissible location for using fireworks.

BIG NEWS!! The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, and the states of Illinois and Michigan signed a project partnership agreement this week for the Brandon Road Interbasin Project, moving the project forward into construction phase. This milestone agreement allows $274 million in federal funding, including $226 million provided by President Biden’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and $114 million in state funding to be used for construction of the first of three construction increments of the $1.15 billion project designed to prevent the upstream movement of aquatic nuisance species into the Great Lakes. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District is the recipient of the National Academy of Construction’s 2024 Recognition of Special Achievement Award for their work on the Isabella Dam Safety Modification Project at Isabella Lake. “The NAC is thrilled to select the Isabella Dam Safety Modification Project for our third annual Recognition of Special Achievement Award,” announced NAC President and CEO Edd Gibson in a press release. “This award highlights and celebrates innovation, safety, and resourcefulness in planning and solving design challenges among international practitioners in the engineering, design, and construction industries, and the Sacramento District’s project delivery team at Isabella Dam rose to top of this year’s nominees by excelling in all areas judged.” Continue reading: https://lnkd.in/gaNwDdGQ
