University of Dayton School of Engineering undergraduate mechanical engineering student Antoine Gagne (’26) was selected to receive this year’s Student Excellence Award from among the 10 student award finalists invited to attend the symposium, and Research Engineer Kurtis McIntosh won the 2024 Best Peer-Reviewed Poster award! Kurtis and Antoine support research and development of high temperature structures for aerospace vehicles. When she was a teenager, Lindsay Davis was told she couldn’t be an engineer because she was a girl. Today, Lindsay engineers fuels-processing systems to help make our nation’s troops more resilient to fuel supply challenges wherever they are. Our women in engineering are changing the world for the better by bringing their amazing talents to innovations in aerospace, structural systems, materials, advanced manufacturing, IT, sensors and software systems, sustainment, electrical and mechanical engineering and so much more. Thank you AFRSO - Air Force Rapid Sustainment Office for the great flight-line tour you hosted for our Sustainment Technologies Transition team and students! This team had the unique opportunity to visit the 445th Airlift Wing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. RSO coordinated the tour to familiarize team members with the C-17 aircraft and flight lines, allowing them to gather additional information from pilots and maintainers about their jobs and some of the challenges they may experience. STT researchers in advanced manufacturing and repair often visit flight lines to gather real-world use cases for components or systems, laser-scan parts on aircraft for digital storage, or test-fit parts they are working on to accelerate production. #UnboundInnovation #AFRSO #UDRI
