#DidYouKnow that it’s estimated that 1 out of every 4 dogs will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime? There are several clues that might indicate your dog has cancer ― and the sooner you spot them, the sooner they can be addressed. “As in humans, cancer is best treated when detected early,” Dr. Julie Bulman-Fleming, Thrive Pet Healthcare’s National Specialty Director of Medical Oncology and Medical Director of Veterinary Cancer Group, told HuffPost this week. 🐶 Lincoln Bounces Back! ❤️🩹 #VeterinaryHeroes Meet Lincoln. He received a bite from a large dog and experienced a traumatic brain and head injury (TBI). He was initially stabilized by the emergency team at ACCESS Animal Hospital, a Thrive Pet Healthcare partner, and was administered fluids, antibiotics, pain medications, and drugs to reduce swelling in the brain. Lincoln’s CT scan revealed skull fractures and a hematoma (aka bruise) on the brain. He also became anemic from the bleeding, so he received a blood transfusion. He stabilized, and the next day was transferred to the South Bay ACCESS location to have a craniectomy (brain surgery!). 🧠 Lincoln did amazingly through his surgery, which revealed a large abscess (infection) and hematoma under the skull. These were removed and flushed well, and Lincoln recovered! He is now home with his family, back to a happy (and healing) pup! 🥹 To learn more about emergency veterinary careers, visit: https://bit.ly/3U2AV9V #PetEmergency #WeThriveTogether #ACCESSanimalshospitals #SUCCESS
