The Hurd Co makes agrilose™, a man-made cellulosic feedstock pulp made from 100% agricultural waste.

About us

The Hurd Co makes agrilose®, a 100% agriwaste-based feedstock pulp used by apparel brands to make fabrics like viscose/rayon and lyocell, which are normally made from trees. Today, over 300 million trees are logged every year to produce pulp for the apparel industry. In addition to being tree-free, The Hurd Co's patented technology is dramatically more sustainable: the zero emission process uses half the water and 90% less energy than conventional pulping processes. Agrilose is a one-to-one replacement for tree pulp and will be available at a cost-competitive price, making it an easy substitute for manufacturers and an easy choice for brands.

What an honor to be featured alongside the other amazing finalists at the SXSW Innovation Awards. We started The Hurd Co with the belief that sustainability is not a luxury, but a necessity; people cannot make sustainable choices unless they can afford sustainable options. We developed agrilose to integrate seamlessly into the supply chain, and to be cost-competitive with existing options. Looking forward to the next SXSW, where hopefully we can take this same picture wearing clothes made from agrilose. #innovationawards #sxsw #sustainability
