This prepares the #TexasVeterans Commission Claims team and Veteran County Service Officers. Today, the #TexasVeterans Commission recognized the service of former Commissioner and Vice-Chair Kimberlee Shaneyfelt and presented her awards in appreciation of her service. Shaneyfelt served TVC for six years. In that time, she guided the expansion of its staff, locations and services across Texas. Over the weekend, the Texas Veterans Commission Excellence in Media Award was presented to Jordan Green of the Longview News-Journal for his series "East Texas veterans adjust to life after military service." The series included: A veteran managing Military Sexual Trauma through her music career A veteran who experienced years of anger-related issues sought counseling for PTSD which improved his family life Another veteran translating military skills into the civilian job market to successfully secure employment A story on how community and counseling helped a veteran manage PTSD, its triggers, improve his overall mental well-being and get some rest.
