The July FPRF webinar, “Current State of Smoking-Related Fires in the United States,” is scheduled for July 17, 12:30 – 2 PM Eastern time (US and Canada). Smoking was the leading cause of home fire deaths in the United States for the 5-year period of 2012 to 2016. However, despite providing patient education, no smoking signs, safety tips, and checklists when home oxygen therapy (HOT) is prescribed, burn injuries and fires continue to occur. These incidents have a collective negative impact on household members, neighbors, first responders, and medical and home healthcare professionals. This webinar explores a collaborative, multi-agency approach which capitalizes on each partner's specialized skillsets to address multiple complex factors. Telgian representatives were proud to join more than 300 volunteers at The Home Depot Supply Chain Event. During the event, volunteers revamped a “tiny house village” that is home to dozens of veterans. Working alongside Team Depot and nonprofit partners including Chatham Savannah Authority for the Homeless and 365 Connect, volunteers transformed the Cove at Dundee and Dundee Cottages painting homes, landscaping the property, building shade structures, creating gathering areas and even painting murals. These efforts make the community a brighter place to live, work and play, and will bring smiles to the faces of the veterans who live there. Thank you to all who participated! #TeamDepot #Telgian

Telgian Executive Chairman Russ Leavitt recently shared his expertise and 40+ years of fire protection experience at #Expofuego, a South American fire safety conference held in Lima, Peru. In addition to his presentation on Global Trends in Firefighting, Russ also spoke about the NFPA Fire and Life Safety Ecosystem. Launched in August 2021, the Ecosystem explains the coordinated effort needed between the various stake holders plus the government and the general public to effectively improve a community's fire and life safety. Globally, we must consider the various cultural differences, the education of those we serve, and the access to training for the development of a skilled workforce. Achieving NFPA's mission of eradicating loss from fire, electrical, and related hazards is a big goal. And it may take generations to achieve.
