A new report from the The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) highlights a significant opportunity for Americans: a net savings of $96 billion over the coming decades by electrifying their homes. However, these savings are only achievable if policymakers ensure that lower-income households are not left behind. At Swell Energy, we recognize that Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) play a crucial role in making electrification more affordable and accessible for everyone. Our commitment to partnerships and programs aims to empower all energy customers, including those in low-income and underserved communities, to participate in the transition to clean energy. This report underscores the importance of equitable electrification, which not only reduces energy costs but also mitigates the health impacts of air pollution and climate change. The societal benefits of this transition are immense. By 2050, we could see $2 trillion in savings due to the avoided social and health costs of burning fossil fuels. At Swell Energy, we are dedicated to creating a sustainable and inclusive energy future. Let's work together to ensure that all households can benefit from the clean energy revolution. Thank you, Mary Tobin, EIT, WELL AP and RMI VP3, for highlighting key #VPP design elements and featuring multiple active VPPs that Swell Energy is developing with SMUD and Hawaiian Electric in the first #RMI VPP Flipbook. This resource is invaluable for utilities and policy makers looking to meet current and future energy needs while enabling customers to participate in and benefit from building the resilient grid of the future. A big thanks to everyone who contributed to demonstrating the capabilities and diversity of VPPs, including Swell team members, Sarah Minczeski Delisle and Jon Fortune. #FutureOfEnergy #SmartGrid #GridResilience
#VirtualPowerPlants aren’t just a concept – they're actively operating around the country, providing critical grid services to utilities and delivering savings to customers. VP3's new VPP flipbook highlights how over 15 utilities are leveraging #VPPs to address grid needs across states like #Utah, #Oregon, #Massachusets and beyond. The flipbook is a collection of VPP case studies highlighting key program design elements and implementation takeaways. The supporting VPP Comparison Matrix consolidates information from the flipbook into a sortable database. The flipbook is intended to help utility program managers, grid operators, grid planners, and other stakeholders design and implement efficient and impactful VPPs. We look forward to developing and expanding this resource periodically as VPPs continue to launch and evolve. BIG thank you to all who contributed, including the RMI team, VP3’s Working with Utilities working group, and flipbook reviewers! ▪ Kevin Brehm, Matthew Land, Liza Martin, Lauren Shwisberg, Zach Clayton, EIT, India Anderson https://lnkd.in/geF3CFT5

🌍🔋 A recent Morningstar DBRS report underscores the financial benefits that Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) bring to utilities. It's encouraging to see a reputable financial analyst recognize how VPPs enhance grid efficiency and can improve utility credit ratings. Key highlights from the report include: - Revolutionizing the Industry: VPPs are revolutionizing the utility industry by integrating renewable energy, improving grid stability and operational efficiency, and leading to better financial health and credit prospects for utilities. - Rapid Growth: VPPs, integrating diverse DERs, are growing rapidly, driven by increased renewable energy use and advanced technology. - Enhanced Grid Stability: VPPs boost grid stability, affordability, and sustainability by optimizing DER use and supporting renewable integration. - Diverse Participation: Utilities can participate in VPPs in different ways to improve grid efficiency, integrate renewable energy, add capacity, and financial stability, which will have a positive impact on utilities’ credit profiles. As a company that works closely with a variety of utilities we've observed firsthand the positive impact of their creditworthiness from a different perspective, as it helps enhance the consumer financial products tied to DER deployment. This Morning Star report takes us full circle, and helps us see financial advantages of VPPs having a symbiotic relationship that reaches many stakeholders in the ecosystem. At Swell, we are committed to advancing this technology, ensuring that utilities and consumers alike reap the benefits of a more resilient and sustainable energy future. https://lnkd.in/eAe_dK8a? #EnergyTransformation #VPP #RenewableEnergy #UtilitySector #MorningstarDBRS #FinancialStability #Sustainability

Thanks Wood Mackenzie Power & Renewables for analyzing and reporting on the record-breaking growth in the U.S. energy storage market. Through Q1 2024, deployments reached 8.7 GW and achieved a 90% year-over-year increase, with significant contributions from California and Texas. Key Highlights: Grid-Scale Storage: Nearly 4 GW were installed in Q4 2023 alone, shattering previous records. Residential Storage: Achieved a new quarterly high with 218.5 MW deployed, underscoring robust consumer uptake of #batteries. Price Trends: Significant declines in lithium battery cell prices are making batteries and electric vehicles more accessible. The surge in energy storage not only bolsters grid resilience but also paves the way for the proliferation of virtual power plants. Swell Energy is proud of our work to deploy energy storage while creating new value for customers and utilities through a variety of VPPs and different grid service models.
