Every child deserves a model school and that includes the cafeteria - so let’s talk about it! CEO Monty Staggs, Sara Murphy, Stephen Ritz, Meaghan Pavlovich, Ed.D. and Dr. Gregory C. This significant cost reduction positions its Rhiza mycoprotein to compete at commodity prices with beef. Food is a legacy in my family. When my great grandparents arrived in America, they opened a store in their community. My grandmother, a wildly talented cook and baker, spent hours in the kitchen preparing meals from scratch for our family and church. My grandfather opened a neighborhood bar and could carry a conversation with anyone who came in. My mom inherited that kitchen talent and has worked in restaurants her entire life. My dad is a classically trained chef. My sister raises cattle and keeps the food system safe as a state inspector. And I help to ensure children have access to healthy, delicious and fresh foods at school. 👩🍳 My daughter is just starting to show interest in carrying a piece of our family history forward, and I couldn’t be more excited about it. Here she is baking at school yesterday. Cooking isn’t just a hobby, it’s a valuable life skill that every child should learn. Not all kids get the kitchen experience I did growing up, which is why I love how much effort our SFE- Southwest Foodservice Excellence Chefs put into food education beyond the cafeteria. Roving Chef and our Future Foodies nutrition and food education programs teach students important culinary skills, including reading a recipe and safety in the kitchen, and encourages them to take those lessons home to their families. We love seeing kids learn in the kitchen!👩🍳🧑🍳
