We're excited to share that the Amazeum's education team will be attending the Play Make Learn Conference, a top event for exploring playful learning, STEAM education, and more. Our team members, Sarah Wiley and Becca Bornstein, will be presenting "Made for Reflection," a session focused on innovative journal-making techniques that integrate learning across disciplines and modes of making. In this session, participants will engage in hands-on journal-making, exploring methods like nature prints, fused plastic, and binding techniques. Sarah and Becca will demonstrate how to facilitate these activities in diverse educational settings, emphasizing community building and reflective learning. We can't wait to see Sarah and Becca connect with fellow educators, designers, and innovators to exchange insights and celebrate the transformative power of playful learning. #STEAMeducation #ProfessionalDevelopment #Conference2024

Great session earlier this summer with our Board President, Bill Akins who led an exceptionally insightful AI workshop for the team at the Scott Family Amazeum. His depth of knowledge and sharp enthusiasm for AI got our heads spinning on the immense possibilities that this new technology is opening to us. I enjoyed getting to work alongside our People Service Leader, Barbara Dean in planning the workshop for team. At such times, I fully realize how lucky I am to be part of a community where continuous learning and innovation are valued. I love getting to be curious and continue learning and growing! So much more curiosity unlocked! #Amazeum #AIWorkshop #Learning #Innovation

Wrapping up four jam-packed days in St. Louis at the American Specialty Toy Retailing Association (ASTRA) Marketplace & Academy! It was fantastic to explore all the new toys and meet with so many incredible vendors. I’m excited about the unique and innovative items being released soon. One of the highlights of this show is meeting the creators behind the products. It’s amazing to learn about the people and the processes that bring these toys to life. Building relationships with sales managers and brands on a personal level adds so much value and insight to our work. Can’t wait to bring these exciting new finds to the museum store Scott Family Amazeum!

I loved getting to host our four Amazeum teen sticker finalists last night for recognition, community, and skill building as they work on final designs to help commemorate the Amazeum's 9th birthday in July. Finding moments of joy and community building and getting to be part of creating a hub of this for the community brings so much value, especially in times like this. Take moments to pause from clean-up for community building, learning new skills, and finding moments of laughter. The NWA region was recently hit by tornadoes, and the damage is overwhelming. It’s not just about rebuilding our homes and lives; it’s about healing our community’s spirit. Leading with compassion and putting people first is my mantra right now. Holding space for others, listening to each other’s stories, being patient, and truly connecting. It’s tough, and I’m feeling it too. Together, we are stronger.
