A new bridge on US 301 southbound over the South Edisto River in Orangeburg County is now open to traffic. Crews are now working to complete the project, which includes paving and placement of pavement markings on this stretch of highway. As crews finish up construction this month, SCDOT asks drivers to use caution and to look out for temporary lane closures in both directions.

South Carolina is the fastest growing state in the nation, and the viability of our state’s transportation network is essential now and for our future. Secretary of Transportation Justin Powell recently talked with Gavin Jackson with SCETV's This Week in South Carolina about how SCDOT is investing funding from the 2017 Roads Bill to grow and maintain South Carolina’s transportation network. Watch this episode to learn more about how SCDOT is increasing road construction, replacing and rehabilitating aging bridges, maintaining the state’s existing road network, and making South Carolina’s roads safer for all users: https://lnkd.in/eQ8784Gb

Yesterday SCDOT opened the third northbound lane on I-85 from mile marker 80 to mile marker 90. This project is part of the I-85 Widening and Improvement Project. SCDOT appreciates the patience of the traveling public and especially the residents of Cherokee and Spartanburg counties as we work to complete this project. Drivers in this area should use caution as crews work to put final pavement markings in place.

The Hardscrabble Road Project in Richland County reached a new milestone last week. All four travel lanes and the two-way center turn lane were fully opened to traffic on a newly widened 1.5-mile section of Hardscrabble Road between Farrow Road and Crane Creek. SCDOT continues to make progress toward completing improvements along all 8 miles of the Hardscrabble Road Project by spring 2025.
