Find out more in our blog post: 'Information Overload: Challenges of Expanding Context Windows in LLMs' from Nelson Liu, Ashwin Paranjape, Michele Bevilacqua, Fabio Petroni and Maithra Raghu. https://samaya.ai/blog Our recent study “Lost in the Middle: How Language Models Use Long Contexts” (https://lnkd.in/eWbgxwpm) finds that language models struggle to reason over their entire input context, which has significant implications for the use of these models in knowledge-rich applications. These findings reveal that, even when presented with random documents as distractors, models still face challenges in reasoning over their input. This underscores the importance of improving LLMs’ abilities to reason over complex external information, and how to effectively use them for knowledge retrieval and discovery. These questions on knowledge and LLMs are central to our work at Samaya AI, where we are building out cutting-edge models to help with knowledge intensive workflows.
