Trimble Inc. tech has a solution for every season. Their main focuses are to simplify workflow, maximise productivity and ROI for farmers. From land preparation, to planting, to nutrient management and fertilising, to crop protection and spraying, to harvest and even water management, the technology helps farmers with guidance, section control, spot spraying and much more. I have been working with some farmers who use the equipment, along with sitting in on training days to learn how the software can be used and how farmers can extract the data from it for data mining, planning for future work and cost analysis. It’s surprisingly simple to use and doesn’t matter if you are young and tech savvy or older and less digitally minded, it is fairly straight forward. And what’s even more impressive, is if you need technical help, you can call your dealership and a specialist will log into your software remotely and help you navigate the challenge. I have been capturing everything from seeding to Kelly chaining, to speed tillers, to spray rigs and whilst I am impressed with the precision and accuracy of the software with my little knowledge in this field, its the farmers I have been working with, whose opinions really matter. The feedback I have been getting is it is simple to use, easy to teach and most of all, when you need support with it, it’s actually there. Quality customer service is almost like hens teeth, and when we rely on technology so heavily in farming operations today, it is all the more important to have. And whilst we are all human and things do go wrong with tech from time to time, knowing someone is at the end of the phone to fix it, makes all the difference and this is something Trimble seems to be nailing. For a contractor, the ability to core connect all his machines, allows them to see machine locations and track details accurately for invoicing. The PTx Trimble intern team had a great fram day. We were able to check out the latest advancements in precision agriculture technology at Colorado State University! It was great to see these solutions in action and see how our work is being implemented to change the industry on a global level.
