It's election season and #FederalEmployees need to be careful about what they say on social media, or in conversation, or any political activity especially during work or on government property...and even when working remotely. While the #HatchAct doesn't apply to #GovernmentContractors directly, there are other authorities and employer's rules that mirror the Hatch Act that restrict conduct by contractor personnel. Government contractors are obligated to respect the federal workplace and maintain the non-political standard of a neutral government environment. #HumanCapitalManagement #GovCon https://lnkd.in/gGy-rTyz

Did you know that each year from 1945 until 1957, Congress considered and failed to pass a civil rights bill? The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was finally signed on this date 60 years ago, outlawing workplace discrimination. Then-Secretary of Labor Willard Wirtz helped implement new antidiscrimination regulatory responsibilities under the act as well as desegregate Labor Department staff. Today, our Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs ensures federal contractors comply with workplace nondiscrimination and affirmative action laws. Visit dol.gov/ofccp to learn more. In the first photo, civil rights leaders Bayard Rustin and Cleveland Robinson are shown at the March on Washington for Jobs & Freedom held the year before the act was passed (credit: Library of Congress). The march helped pressure the Kennedy administration to initiate a strong federal civil rights bill in Congress. In the second photo, President Lyndon B. Johnson signs the act with civil rights leaders in attendance. (Credit: White House Press Office)

Never a bad idea to actually talk to your employees. With so much technology and automation, more human interaction may be just what is needed not only to get feedback, but also to improve the #EmployeeExperience. #HumanCapitalManagement
Rather than only sending out surveys and hoping for good FEVS response rates, agencies are also looking at qualitative ways to hear back from federal employees. - Read the story by Drew Friedman #FederalEmployeeViewpointSurvey

Tomorrow is #Juneteeth National Independence Day which celebrates the end of slavery in the United States and is also known as Emancipation Day. While Abraham Lincoln issued the proclamation to free enslaved African Americans in secessionist states on January 1, 1863, enslavers were held responsible for telling the enslaved they were free and some ignored the directive. Enslaved people in Texas, would not learn of their freedom until two and a half years later. Texas was the last Confederate state where the proclamation was announced, and the first to recognize the date of June 19 – Juneteenth – statewide. https://lnkd.in/eGg3-77H

PEP is proud to be a #WBENCCertified #WOSB!
Credibility is essential in business relationships, and in our certification process, too. As the gold standard for women-owned business certification, we take the vetting process—and your company—seriously. That’s why we require documentation to verify the ownership, management, and control of applicants by the women owners, including financial statements, federal tax returns, partnership agreements, and more.
