On June 11th, 2024, Pegasus Steel hosted an informative demonstration comparing two types of collaborative robot (Cobot) welding and a manual weld for representatives of Keel, Metal Trades, Vectis, Lincoln Electric, Newport News Shipbuilding, Submarine Industrial Base Council, Blue Forge Alliance, and the U.S. Navy. The objective was to conduct time studies and determine the strengths and weaknesses of a Cobot GMAW-Spray 2F procedure with a Lincoln/FANUC cobot and a Cobot GMAW-S Fillet 2F procedure using a Vectis cobot, in comparison with the HY100 GMAW-GV Rev 6 procedure. The demonstration yielded the following results: Lincoln/FANUC Cobot Automatic Welding - 0 VT Indications, 0 MT Indications – 6.83 Minutes; Vectis Cobot Automatic Welding - 0 VT Indications, 0 MT Indications – 6.13 Minutes; Manual Welding - 0 VT Indications, 0 MT Indications – 6.82 Minutes. #cobotwelding #steelfabrication #welding #innovation #defensemanufacturing #USNavy #LincolnElectric #NewportNewsShipbuilding #Vectis #MetalTrades #KeelUSA #PegasusSteel #SubmarineIndustrialBase #BlueForgeAlliance #charlestonSC
