Congratulations to our client, the City of Elkader, and all the stakeholders involved in this project on this award. It has been amazing to see the transformation of the Historic Keystone Bridge! #origindesign #workingontomorrow #excellence
Our client, the City of Elkader, was the recipient of the “2024 Excellence in Archaeology and Historic Preservation Award” for the Keystone Bridge Rehabilitation project. This is an annual award selected by the State Historical Society that recognizes “the best archaeology or historic preservation project at the local or state level”. Origin Design partnered with the City of Elkader to provide design, bidding, and construction administration services for the rehabilitation of the historic limestone arch. Fun fact the bridge originally cost a whopping $16,282.49 to construct in 1889 (the original construction year). And the original bridge weight was 18,618,255 lbs, which is equivalent to 9,309 tons! It was incredible to be part of the team that helped preserve this historic structure that is a key linkage in the City of Elkader!
