This summer’s CyberForce® Conquer the Hill™ Reign Edition competition brought together 149 students from 77 universities to conquer a series of challenges in a virtual escape room. During this experience, students used a combination of cybersecurity, computer science, mathematics, and critical thinking skills to complete all 5 levels of the competition. After hours of problem-solving and strategizing, Hunter Wittenborn from The University of Alabama in Huntsville emerged as this year’s winner! Recently, CESER sponsored NASEO - National Association of State Energy Officials’ State Energy Security Bootcamp, which brought together over 90 participants to discuss intrastate and interstate emergency responder preparation, cybersecurity, and state plans. During the bootcamp, CESER’s Assistant Director, Energy Security Policy and Partnerships, Brandi Martin, Minnesota Department of Commerce Deputy Commissioner Michelle Gransee, and NASEO President David Terry discussed the importance of public-private cooperation and the shared responsibility to protect critical infrastructure as highlighted in the National Security Memorandum 22 release [https://lnkd.in/eJK2qauk]. This was the second iteration of the Bootcamp and received impressive level of participation. DOE is excited for collaboration to continue and to work with sector partners on NSM-22 implementation.
