The overturning of Chevron, a decision that previously deferred to government agencies to define an ambiguous law, affects multiple legal industries, including Cannabis Law. In Today’s Legally Grown blog, Benjamin Sheppard discusses the implications of the overturning as federal agencies, such as the DEA, may affect how courts rule on cannabis-related laws and restrictions. The New Jersey Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) has issued an amended advisory notice regarding the product/brand registration and renewal process, emphasizing the importance of accurate and unique product identification. Today’s Liquor Law blog outlines the key changes that New Jersey alcohol manufacturers must implement by July 31, 2024 in order to avoid fees, including the elimination of alternative “product ID” numbers and the requirement of a unique UPC for a product. Manufacturers may utilize the POSSE system to make these updates by the end of July. Licensees must remain in compliance with the ABC by ensuring all products have valid brand registration numbers on the Current Price List.
