🔌 According to the Pew Research Center, there are 61,000 EV charging stations in the United States today. By 2030, the Biden Administration has set a goal of 500,000 charging stations across the country. How do we close such a large gap? NEMA members have already invested $12 billion in dozens of manufacturing facilities around the country to foster and strengthen #domesticmanufacturing and #supplychain capabilities for EV charging equipment. In Industry Today Media, NEMA's Steve Griffith, PMP looks at what else is needed to electrify our nation's infrastructure and accelerate the energy transition: https://lnkd.in/eTh-FR9X

NEMA submitted comments to the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency this week on CISA's proposed rule to implement the Cyber Incident Reporting for Critical Infrastructure Act (CIRCIA). CIRCIA presents a milestone in how the federal government will now engage with the private sector as a partner in the cybersecurity and protection of the nation’s critical infrastructure. NEMA has long been an active partner within the Critical Manufacturing Sector and CISA. Alongside the American Lighting Association, NEMA's comments highlight how to best maintain this productive collaboration, specifically for determining statute-required "sector-based criteria". NEMA and other organizations also seek clarification that trade associations themselves would not be considered critical infrastructure entities even if they represent companies that own and operate critical infrastructure. Following USTR's request for comments on its proposed changes to the #Section301 tariff regime, NEMA urged a balanced approach that considers the realities of complex, global electrical supply chains. “We share the Administration’s goal to enforce compliance on international trade, and we encourage USTR and the Administration to review our recommendations and consider the impacts of Section 301 tariffs on competitiveness and the energy transition, particularly as they relate to products that cannot be sourced elsewhere," said NEMA President and CEO Debra Phillips. The bipartisan House Climate Solutions Caucus welcomed NEMA SVP Spencer Pederson yesterday to provide a briefing on proposed reforms related to the federal permitting process, including for the #criticalminerals supply chain and transmission rights-of-way. NEMA supports efforts to responsibly accelerate #transmission development through improved permitting to build a resilient grid. We thank Caucus Chairs Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA) and Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-NY) for the invitation to share electrical manufacturers’ perspectives on this important issue.
