“You can’t be what you can’t see” These words by Marian Wright Edelman should inspire us to introduce our young women - our future leaders - to the business and political figures that will inspire the next generation to overcome the very real hurdles they face in their leadership journey. This week Carmina Bech, MBA and I were honored to introduce these amazing young Cal Lutheran School of Management powerhouses - Allison Pine, Andrea Brimmer, Jeanine S. Zayyad,Nina Almaoui, Brissa Castaneda, Jaida Burgon, Marketing Intern, Emma Sweeney and Elsa Klubberud - to California’s incredible elected leaders. Thank you to Senate ProTem Toni Atkins and her amazing spouse Jennifer LeSar for the wonderful dinner, State Treasurer Fiona Ma for lunch and her inspiring story, and Assemblymember Jacqui Irwin for her time and generosity! And a very special thank you for South Carolina’s “Sister Senators” - Margie Matthews, Penry Gustafson, Mia McLeod, and Sandy Senn. These are four of the only five women senators - Republicans, Democrats and an Independant - who have put the rights of all women above political affiliation, who suffered, persisted and maintained their bond to protect those rights. Thank you for spending time with us and inspiring us with your story!
