It's project Feature Friday! Today we highlight the new South County Recycling and Transfer Station, a project for King County in Algona currently underway and scheduled for completion in 2026. With a design by HDR, our team is constructing new transfer, administration, waste, operations, and scale house structures on 18.9 acres. Part of the work has included relocating a stream that runs through the site, which was completed during a short window of time to ensure no adverse environmental effects to spawning salmon. The project is aiming to achieve Living Building Challenge Petal certification. Recently, our team completed a training session with YouthBuild for pre-apprentice construction workers on how to "hustle work" in the industry. The session included our 200th trainee, a huge accomplishment for our Diversity & Inclusion team. Congrats to all on this accomplishment, and on all the community- and environment-focused work being done on site!

Lydig is proud to be among the elite West Coast contractors to earn the prestigious SALMON-SAFE accreditation, making us the first general contractor in Eastern Washington to achieve this honor. This rigorous standard further validates our commitment to environmental protection and sustainability by minimizing downstream water quality impacts from large-scale construction projects. We take a watershed-focused approach to building, implementing site management practices that exceed regulatory code compliance. These practices reduce the runoff of construction-phase sediment, chemicals, and pollutants and minimize the removal of vegetation and natural soils, which can cause erosion. Our ongoing projects at John Rogers Elementary School and the South County Recycling and Transfer Station are being developed and completed with these Salmon-Safe certification efforts, showcasing our dedication to sustainable building practices. #salmonsafe #salmonsafecertified #lydigconstruction #sustainability

It's Project Feature Friday! The new Lakehaven Water and Sewer District’s headquarters in Federal Way, WA, includes a 40,000 SF administration building, vehicle storage, remodeled maintenance facilities, and upgraded infrastructure to support 20 years of growth. Construction was strategically phased in order to minimize impacts on site access and facility operations. Structurally, the new buildings were designed and constructed to the classification of a “critical facility,” given the importance of LWSD remaining operational at all times even in the event of an emergency or disaster. #LydigConstruction #CommunityBuilding Photos by: Will Good

And that’s a wrap on year 4 of ConstructDiversity! Earlier this month, we celebrated our young scholars at the Showare Center in Kent, Wa. The event featured inspiring speeches from program alumni, current students, school administrators, and host companies. We’re excited to start recruiting for next year’s cohort. This year’s group set a high standard, and while it will be tough to surpass, we’re committed to giving it our all. We are thrilled to welcome Gracie Lee back to Lydig, who rejoins us as a Project Engineer after earning her degree from Central Washington University. Gracie interned with us over the past two summers, working on the Nicholson Pavilion at CWU and the South King County Recycling & Transfer Station. When not working, you'll find her nurturing indoor plants or remodeling her home. Welcome back Gracie!

It's Project Feature Friday! The new James Baldwin Elementary School replaces the former 300-seat Northgate Elementary on a 5.81-acre site in North Seattle, expanding to a multi-story, 95,000 square foot facility that now accommodates 650 K-5 students. The school features learning clusters with classrooms around learning commons and secure entry points, all while respecting the surrounding residential neighborhood. Lydig worked closely with Seattle Public Schools, NAC Architecture, staff, students, and community members to ensure the design reflected everyone's input. #LydigConstruction #SeattlePublicSchools Photos by: Benjamin Benschneider

We're proud to have been part of Chelan County PUD's 50-year plan, upgrading support and maintenance facilities at Rock Island and Rocky Reach Dams. Our project included redevelopment and new construction at both sites. As CCPUD modernized generators, turbines, and spill gates, intense coordination was crucial to ensure uninterrupted operation. At Rocky Reach, with its 11 generators/turbines and 12 spillway gates, we built new facilities and refurbished existing ones, including a warehouse, offices, and shops. #lydigconstruction
