KPFF Seattle Bridge Group, and the KPFF Spokane Office celebrated alongside The City of Spokane in the opening, and ribbon-cutting of two bridges last week. 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 The bridge accommodates one lane of northbound vehicle traffic, with bike lanes and pedestrian paths on either side. The vehicle lane is separated from the pedestrian and bike lanes with large orange planter boxes and benches for people to take in the views of the Spokane Falls in both directions. Additionally, a sewer pipe that hung on the outside of the bridge was replaced and tucked underneath the bridge for a more scenic view. It includes the regional Centennial Trail and is situated between the lower and upper Spokane Falls. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞 – 𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤 The pedestrian suspension bridge spans the upper Spokane Falls of the Spokane River and was built 50 years ago for the ’74 Expo. The engineering work included a new deck, repair/replacement of corroded steel floor beams, railing modifications, and repair/replacement of lighting and electrical components similar to the north suspension bridge, which was completed by KPFF in 2022.
