    I'm excited to formally announce the launch of Moontail as a full-service frozen seafood distributor operating an alternative model to the traditional seafood importer "trader" model. This journey began after more than a decade peeling back the layers in the industry. This process made apparent to me how many of the industry's problems are created or exasperated by the way the seafood's distribution network is structured. At first, it seemed this was something that could simply be gradually strengthened and brought along. However, I grew to see many of the challenges are the direct result of the operating model of importers: a self-dealing trader model. The lack of transparency and data-driven partnership wasn’t a flaw, but rather a designed feature to extract profits by keeping customers and producers at arm's length from each-other. What was originally designed to maximize profits as an intermediary has now ultimately hobbled the industry with major trust issues across the entire value chain. I believe the industry has evolved enough and has an appetite for an alternative to the importer model. One that exchanges the self-serving core of the trader model and replaces it with the service-oriented ethos of my category management origins. A model that uses unbiased data and business process optimization to deliver better results for industry stakeholders. This led me to a group of likeminded partners who have helped me launch Moontail as a full-service frozen seafood distributor built on the principles of category management. We have an unwavering focus on creating wins and growth for the seafood sector! We’re calling the new model Democratized Distribution, and we'd love to share more about it with you!
